It is a warm and sunny day in Sarasota. The human problems of life remain. The road I have taken is to create whatever I can of beauty and value and justify my existance to myself. The greatest joy comes from working on and perhaps completing a necessary project or originating a project in art, music, literature, or other field of endeavor. As the sun sets the work of the previous hours give respite to a restless soul until sleep sends it’s protective blanket for a while. There is much to be thankful for and hope reigns.
It;s August 14, 2010 and the goin’ is slow. Heat, and more heat comin’. For me, it’s do a little, rest a little, do a little more, rest and live in semi hibernation. The slow life is not something I’m used to. But what else is there Mr. Universe. Hot! hot! and hot some more. Tough it out says I. Bon soir—Jay
Although this has been dubbed the “rainey season” it is hardly that. Our thirsty plants yearn for more than the little they get. Remember their thirst when engaging in any extravagant water use. We need to share the little we receive. Today it rained a small amount. The plant world put it’s hands in the air. I wonder why the media considers hot, cloudless, days to be beautiful?
My business declined and I was forced to move by economic circumstances. The truest and dearest allies were my three children and their spouses. They contributed “sweat, blood and tears” and made their Papa feel like there was a divine force at work in the universe. No greater love is there in the universe than I experienced during these hectic days. Although the temperature was unbearably hot my children were hard at work, doing the things that had to be done. They made my new home possible and gave me the confidence to go on with my creations. In the end Hope and Love, when allowed in the door, are one’s most honored guests. Amor vincit omnia.
At least Sarasota is breezy. Ninety degree afternoons are simply too hot. Those of us flitting around must discern where the best places to hang out are. Mostly these are where the free breezes roam. Once and a while a human contact affords some comfort. This blog is dedicated to happy days—-in the face of whatever.
Piece of mind and stress free time are available when horrendously complex problems are not presenting themselves. We might need complexity on occasion but a constant overdose is not too healthy. The best part of life consists of comunion with nature, keeping in touch with the body and mind’s needs, enjoying the company of life’s creatures-be they plants or animals. Large problematic situations are recipes for mental and physical disasters. Solveable problems present pleasant challenges which are happily overcome. So**** Live in balance while you stay tuned in. Each precious moment has it’s gifts.
The world is full of hungry fish. All have no questions and simply “are”. Finding a place amongst them is not easy but do-able. If one thinks like a caveman and is at home with nature it might work out. Incidentally, what happened to compassion? It might appear again in a different costume. Keep your eyes open!!!
If life were all that bad I wouldn’t be writing this. ‘09 has awakened us. We are indeed fragile and dependant on each other to provide the means of exchange to function (money). The following might be helpful: 1–Be Humble 2–Give due respect to all life 3-Pay homage to those that came before and made the present possible. As you pursue your goals with the hope of success tread lightly so that your “footprint” is not destructve 4–Keep Love in your heart for the forces of all the good things around 5–Enjoy every hour of life’s adventure as much as possible 6–Success equals Happiness 7–Give “Thanks” in your heart for all that you have and enter the New Year with gladness.
Foreign troops are in Afghanistan “strutting”. Noone likes to see military uniforms in their streets. So— Take off the uniforms and wear work clothes and stop making one’s self visible. Blend, blend, and blend again. Single male foreigners to this land who are available should consider marrying some of these beautiful, intelligent, and savvy women. A mindset of constuctive work is needed to feed the nation. The children produced will cause unbreakable bonds to be formed. All the politcal groups will become subordinate to the daily needs of these extra-ordinary people. New crops to feed everyone will be introduced. The picturesque mountains could become tourist hangouts for people that want to be in dramatically unusual places–etc. etc. These diverse political elements will begin to realize that their greatest asset is the love between each other that turned into blind hatred. From humble beginnings, love’s spark will ignite the flame that will give Afghanistan a prestigious place in the sun and a degree of prosperity and comfort that will please it’s people. Am I asking for the Impossible?
The following is a wish list which will help the people:
Very reasonable rents, home grown healthy food, low prices for everything that we need and lots of opportunity to buy and sell the things that we make. Living a peaceful life , without the burdens of outlandish wars is a dream to be realized. Curbing population is a necessary part of sharing the resources of the earth. This must be done with compassion and intellect. The relationship with all plants and animals is crucial for everyone’s well being. Keep “Greed” out of the consciousness of one’s conceptual thought. Try to imagine the common good as the ultimate goal. If all this is a fantasy so be it.
